Some Special Visitors

Today we had visits from people who have special jobs in our community.

The fire engine came with some firefighters from Roslyn.
They reminded us about how to be firewise.
We need to check our smoke alarm batteries this weekend.

Grace from Room 4 was dressed up as a fire fighter. The jacket was really heavy.

Heather Rei the police officer also came to talk to us about her work and what she does every day. You have to be really fit to be a police officer.  Libby from Room 2 got to wear the special police vest with the radio and lots of things in the pockets.

We think these people are very brave and they help to keep us all safe.

A busy week!

Welcome to Isaac who started school on Tuesday. He loves lego and star wars and got some new lego for his birthday. It's great to have you in Room 3 Isaac!

On Wednesday we had a visit from 2 police officers with their dog - Fonz. They came to talk about how the dog helps them in their job. This is what we found out...

The dogs find people for the police. Charlotte

The dogs use their nose to sniff the people out.  Isaac

One policeman had arm pads to protect his arm from the dog. Josh

On Thursday we had a visit from  Ginny who took us for a PE lesson. We were thinking about how to bounce and pass a ball. It was a lovely sunny day and we had a great session together with Room 2.

Here are some photos.

Andy and Striders Visit to Bradford School

Strider is a zebra and he is soft and cuddly. There were people inside.
Strider came to visit to see us and to tell us about walking to school. He came to encourage us to walk to school. Walking to school can give us energy and  it keeps us healthy. It can wake us up in the mornings.

We Have the Power!

We have been thinking about how we we learn and what our bodies need to help us learn.

We think our bodies need...

a home to give us shelter- Charlotte

fresh water to drink - Koby

chicken  and sausages and bananas and other healthy food - Josh

fresh air and a bed to sleep  in- Baylee

We think that a sleepy, hungry body would find it very hard to learn at school. We are trying to make sure we eat our breakfast, morning tea and lunch so we have lots of energy to keep us going.

Room 3 2011

Hi everyone! We are back together and having lots of fun. We are a small class of 5 now but we will grow over the year. We have lots of room in our class to work and learn!

We are learning about our classroom and routines at the moment...what to do at different times during the day.

Here is a picture of what we do after morning tea. We put our lunch boxes away and get our browsing boxes out. We have a selection of books in there that we can read to ourselves.

We have been learning about faces in our art time. We have talked about what features we have and where they are placed. We have used paint to create our own portraits. Here are some photos of the Room 3 artists in their creative zone!

Feel free to come in and see the rest of the artworks in Room 3.

Getting Ready for Tuesday!

Hi everyone! It's been such a long time since we were all together and I hope you've all had a fantastic holiday! I have loved being with my family and visiting friends.

I'm sure you are all looking forward to coming back to school, meeting up with your friends again and getting ready to learn all sorts of new things this year. You'll have to find your school bag again and think about yummy things for your lunchbox! Have a few early nights so you are all rested and ready to go and I'll see you on Tuesday!

Talent Show

On Friday afternoon we had a talent show at school. We had some groups practice and perform from Room 3. Stefan was our 'official' photographer.

This group of girls sang and danced to a Hannah Montana song. They were very confident and knew all the words.

These children did the actions to the 'Monkey in the Teapot' song. It was great to see some of our newest children get up and have a go.

We had a song from Mina and her guitar with some back up dancers and another energetic dance from KayLee and friends. Arleyah led a group in a song from Justin Bieber.

There is a lot of talent in Room 3!
