Kiwi Breakfasts

This week with Ms Clark we have been hard at work designing our posters. Our message is all about how important breakfast is for setting us up for a great day of learning and activity. We have been thinking about how to get everyone's attention so we have used bright colours and big bold headings. We have written our message and put in a picture to make our posters easy to understand. Here are some of our finished posters. The rest are hanging up in Room 3. Feel free to drop in and see them.

Staying Healthy

Today we had a visit from Karen the Public Health Nurse. She talked to us about ways we can stay healthy and keep from getting sick or catching colds from other people.

We are showing you the way to wash your hands. We want to get the germs off so we don't give them to other people. We want the soap to go all over our hands - on the top, in between the fingers and around the thumbs. After we soap our hands we need to wash it all off and then dry our hands really well.

We should wash our hands....
- before we eat
- after playing outside
- after going to the toilet
and any other time they get dirty.

Sometimes we need to blow our nose with a tissue. We should cover our nose with the tissue and blow out our nose...not our mouth. We might need to give it a wipe as well. Then we put the tissue in the bin.

When we cough we should cough into our arm so we don't give our coughs to other people. We don't cough into our hands because then we touch things or people and they get our germs.

Jacob is practicing how to blow his nose. You need to have your mouth closed. Jacob has got some cotton wool on his hand. He is trying to blow it off just with the air out of his nose. This was fun to try!

You can help us keep healthy by reminding us to....
  • wash our hands carefully
  • cough and sneeze into our arms/elbow
  • blow our noses in to a tissue
We might remind you too!

Creative Character Writing

We created some people out of junk material and had to write about where they might live and what they might like to eat. Here are some photos of our writing.

Fruit Salad

Last week Room 3 made some fruit kebabs. We ate them and they tasted delicious. We had them on a hot day.At the moment we are learning about what is healthy to eat. We know that some foods we can eat all the time and some foods we should eat just some of the time and some foods are treats to have at parties and special times like that.

Food like apples, bananas, plums, pears, grapes, strawberries, kiwifruit and oranges are foods that we can eat all the time.

We loved making and eating our fruit kebabs. We could show you how to do this at home. Just ask us!
